A celebration of ordained women clergy in the Geelong region was held at Christ Church Geelong on 22 July. Approximately 90 women attended, with Bps Barbara Darling and Philip Huggins joining the celebration.
Participants agreed that the service, which marked the Feast of Mary Magdalene, was both moving and very affirming. While the celebration recognised the contribution of all these women to ministry, particular acknowledgment was made of those who had not experienced any sort of commissioning service. This included a number of non-stipendiary clergy who had worked tirelessly and faithfully over many years in answer to God’s call.
