Dear friends,
It gives me great joy to welcome you to the first edition of the annual theological training journal Network 1:28 from the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne.
Why Network 1:28?
It takes a network of parishes, theological colleges, the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne, schools, various chaplaincies, sector ministries and families working together to train godly leaders. Colossians 1:28 reads: It is he whom we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.
This network of Christians, both organisations and individuals, working together, aims to bring Godly men and women to full maturity in Christ.
The network spans up to eleven years of training, an extensive program of preparation and formation that includes and builds on the four year period of theological education.
It is our endeavour to bring together in the one publication a transparent snapshot of all that theological training entails and all those involved in it. Hence as you read through this journal you will meet diocesan candidates, examining chaplains and articles about future vision and direction from the theological colleges as well as information that clearly outlines ways that you may assist in training Godly leaders firstly in prayer and then as God puts it on your heart.
My hope is that this journal will provide you with a clear understanding of the ordination journey as well as insights into some of those who are being called by God to explore this ministry vocation.
Please continue to uphold in your prayers theological training, our candidates, future candidates and the many men and women currently in ministry positions in your prayers. Network 1:28 looks forward to an exciting future as we journey together with God.
God Bless
Archdeacon Robert Presland
Director Network 1:28
